SoftCap™ - A CrystaPlex® Safety Innovation
Improving the game and putting player safety first is what we’ve been about for years.
Using a thermo-plastic elastomer, the patented SoftCap™ design enhances player safety by putting a more forgiving surface on the ice side of the cap rail, the most likely point of contact for players.
With a durometer reading of 70A, SoftCap™ is far more forgiving upon impact than HDPE cap rail. Every season, more NHL teams are adding SoftCap™ to their board systems, because they know player safety is the most important issue they face in their business.
The benefit to players and their coaches is the expected reduction in the frequency and severity of injuries to the nose, mouth, chin, and elbow.
SoftCap™ is in use now in a continually-growing number of NHL rinks, and is available on all new CrystaPlex® and Pro Series™ rinks and is suitable for retrofitting on most existing rinks.
