Sport Systems Unlimited Corp., was pleased to be on hand for the official public opening of the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Toronto on September 8th.
The new 4-sheet arena is the first community ice rink built in Toronto in more than 25 years. Constructed by Giffels Design-Build, the new arena, which comes in just under 300,000 square feet, was unveiled to rave reviews on Sept 8th, with Maple Leaf General Manager Brian Burke calling it "the Cadillac of training facilities." All four pads feature Sport Systems Unlimited Pro Series™ boards.
"This is a huge day for hockey in this area," Burke said to assembled media at the opening. "It gives us the best practice facility in the NHL and the AHL.”
In addition to being the practice home for the Leafs and Marlies, MCHE will also be the home for the Ontario office of Hockey Canada, the Hockey Hall of Fame archives, and the Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey School.
Sport Systems Unlimited has just completed installing Pro Series™ boards at the new practice facility of the Florida Panthers and will soon be installing CrystaPlex boards at Johnny's Ice House in Chicago, the practice rink for the Black Hawks.
